What a fun and busy week we had! Not only did we continue on with LHTH and BHFHG, Ian started up baseball and speech twice a week and we all started our new Co Op! We go once a week for 3 hours. Ian is taking a pre school class, Emersyn is in the nursery, and Ally and Audrey are taking science, history/geography, math club, and art. I am teaching the K5 class. Everyone but the baby had such a great day! She is used to being with Mommy all the time so it was tough for her which made it tough for me. We will get through it! Prayerfully our co op is super understanding and there is room in the class I teach to keep her with me if needed. Please pray that she can adjust and adjust soon!

This week in Little Hands Ian worked on the letter Cc and learned about Abraham. He did very well in recalling the letters we have learned along with their sounds. I am so relieved it is starting to click! I am doing a lot more games and sensory things with him and I think it is helping. He is still enjoying school and doing it and is learning every day! I have been praying faithfully that this year Ian will start to grow in his academic skills! He started with his new speech therapists who predicts that this will be his last year for speech! I am one excited mommy.
Audrey and Ally worked on unit 3 of Bigger this week. They did very well and we got it all done in four days instead of five!
Bible: Proverbs 16:2-3/Boldness We worked on these verses from Proverbs this week. The girls wrote it and acted it out as well as highlighted it in their bibles. We discussed boldness and came up with a ton of examples on how we can demonstrate good boldness for God. I also had the girls put DITHOR away for a day and had them read from the Bible. They really enjoyed it.
Poetry: "Sea Fever" We learned a lot from this poem during the week including similes. The girls had a fun time coming up with their own!
Poetry: "Sea Fever" We learned a lot from this poem during the week including similes. The girls had a fun time coming up with their own!
Language: Our focus was on answering a question with a complete sentence and the girls did GREAT!
Dictation: We only do this three days a week and so far the girls are way ahead of where I planned! Audrey is doing great.
Handwriting: The girls are still plugging along in their workbooks and are working really hard so that we can start cursive.
Story time: This week we finished up Ben and Me and were a little sad, it was such a cute book. It may not be a true biography but it was good enough and appropriate enough for my seven year old to get the concept.
DITHOR: So far so good in adding in this for reading this year. The girls finished their book at the end of the week and next week we will work on our culminating project. It was such a cute book and they both seemed to enjoy it. When we start adventures they will each have a different book!
Vocabulary: Both girls could not wait for vocabulary day! They like sorting and organizing their index cards!
Writing: I am using a book that I love in our writing this year. It uses picture books to teach reading and writing skills. We read the book Amazing Grace and did several activities with it. One was sorting out fact and opinions and one was writing about having Grace as a friend. This is one of the girls favorite books. We also discussed predictions, retelling, finding the information in a book, backing up what we say with examples from the book and much more.Math: We finished section 1! I am so proud of how hard they are working. Addition and subtraction are becoming easier and easier everyday and I am seeing far less tears!

History: We read and learned about John Smith and Henry Hudson this week in our studies. The girls compared and contrasted the two and their voyages. They made a map of where they explored, made a model of a river, added them to their timeline, and made a model of a compass rose. It was a great week of learning and their Daddy the history teacher was very impressed with what they could recall.
Science: Science is every day this year and the girls are loving it. They do more than last year in Beyond and I can tell they are getting more as well. We are still reading the seashore book and it is a little difficult at times because they have not been to a beach since they were 2! They are doing well with it and the book is great to explain and use illustrations. We looked at how the water only evaporates out of salt water and how rain, waves, and wind make the sea shore erode.
Art: WE did a drawing of a tree in our backyard. It was a fun activity and my girls gave it their best effort. I am proud of them for always trying. I am hoping they will learn some new things about art in their Co op.The girls enjoyed piano this week and shared with us some of what they did in lessons at our tea party. I love hearing them play! We had some outside time but it has been so hot that they have just been playing indoors or on on the Wii. We visited the library and bargain shopped for new dance shoes and baseball equipment and as well as used coupons to buy things for the baby. All three kids even wrote a play and performed it for me, costumes, music, dance, all included! I love seeing those imaginations at work. It was a busy week but a GREAT week!
