MIA!!

Wow, it has been a while since I have blogged and boy does it feel good to be at it again. Our computer's hard drive crashed and we had to have all of that stuff fixed. I lost SEVERAL important files but I guess since we had warranty and didn't have to pay to have the computer fixed it was all okay in the end just every in convienent!

So time to catch up a little on what has been going on around the VanEvera house.

Mother's Day weekend was a hit! The kids and Paul made my mom and I lunch: bacon wrapped meatloaf, twice baked potatoes and salad with a giant chocolate chip cookie and coconut cream pie for dessert! YUM!! I got spoiled with breakfast in bed twice and gifts from each of my kids. Audrey got me some new perfume, Ally bought me a new purse, and my little man bought me a new pair of yellow box flip flops to take on vacation!  Not bad at all for someone who used to dread Mother's Day!

The kids and I finished another great year of AWANA!!  Audrey and Ally will now move up to Sparky's :( and Ian will officially be a Puggle. He already thinks he is one because for the last few months he has gone with me!  I even spoke to the church congregation at the end of the year program!! For those of you who know me, you know I HATE speaking in front of a large group or even a small group but the Lord brought me through and gave me the words and calmed my nerves.

The girls have finished up their "school" for the year though they do have to do a little reading and journal writing three days a week just to stay current and not get behind. Paul and I are also taking advantage of every "teachable" moment we come across. Like right now they will be counting money for our vacation as well as adding up how much they have and comparing it to what they want to buy. I know this may seem cruel to others, to have the kids buy their own souvenirs with money they have gotten and saved but it is a valuable lesson for them! Paul and I want them to learn the importance of working hard and saving for something you really want rather than spending as soon as you get money! This is hard for me as an adult, so we are starting them young!

Both girls are above in their academic skills! Audrey is right at the end of kindergarten in all areas and Ally is right about the beginning half of first grade! Way to go girls! Next year with homeschooling I can pick up where they need to be, rather than have them waste almost an entire year waiting on 20 other kids to be as ready as they are! And rather than them just getting what they already know, they can move ahead like they need to! We are pretty lucky to have the home school option for them because not everyone does. Thank you Lord for giving us the opportunity to further our kids education at home in YOUR presence with YOUR influence on them as well as allowing them further success instead of coming to a standstill.

Paul's last day of school is today and then we will have some much needed family time!!!!!  I will be keeping two kids for two days of week but those days will be our "fun days" so we will get out and about, rather than doing something everyday! It also gives the kids other kids to play with and more lessons on social interaction! We will be taking advantage of the free things at the library, 1/2 price days/events, and dollar movies, as well as swimming!

Today also marks the one year anniversary of me surviving being a full time stay at home mom!! I can honestly say that I do not regret my choice but there have been moments or days that I wanted to be back in the classroom and let someone else watch the kids! They are mine and our time together is invaluable, the good and the not so good! I do miss teaching from time to time but home schooling gives me the best of both worlds just without the paycheck! I do get paid in watching my kids learn and achieve as well in watching them grow and spending time with them. They will not be little for long and I will never be able to back in time or shrink them, so being home with them is the BEST!!

Now the countdown, 17 days, for our WDW vacation is ON!!!
