Te girls made a hornbook using tape, paper, cardboard, and a sheet protector. We learned this is what the pioneers learned to write an read with.
We studied the phases of the moon I science since it lit the way on the river.
We also learned about the parts of an apple tree because Mary Jane O Neil met Johnny Appleseed who gave her seeds I plant when she got to Indiana. Our weekly poem was also about an apple tree.
Ian had a lesson on how salt mixes with water.
In bible the girls did Dueteronomy 5;16, which they so needed! We had a lesson on obeying and that hod have the job to parents to train their children up in His ways. The pioneers did just that.
In spelling the girls worked on aw words and did well. They passé their test. Next week is review so we will see how much they remember.
Our new story time book is Follow My Leader, about a little boy named Jimmy who goes blind and how he learns to go about his life. The girls are really enjoying our realistic fiction pick. We discussed point of view and the trait of integrity.
In reading they are still on Animal adventures and reading at bedtime. I included a picture of their weekly journal response. We decided that Sunday nights are required bible reading and they enjoy that.
Math this week was learning how to divide. They did well though we still need practice.
For journal writing the girls write about their birthday which is on Saturday. They will be 7. They also wrote some thank you cards for gifts they have gotten already.
We had piano lessons this week and Co op classes. The girls are improving on extra math during computer time and for PE we will have water play at the indoor water park this weekend!
Next week we will begin unit 30 and it does not seem possible!
