We learned about the Oregon Trail and how rough it was for those who traveled on it. We met Dan and his family in out history reading as they traveled west. The girls enjoyed it. It was really fun an they fellt connected since we went to the Dixie Stampede in Branson last weekend.
They likes the art project of making a mountain but since we didn't have all the construction paper colors we painted instead.
Our bible lesson was on how believers in Christ need to show mercy on those in need from Matthew 25:31-46. It fit perfectly with what we learned about how the pioneers had to help each other out in hard times on the Oregon Trail. I had the girls work on AWANA verses for our verses this week.
In science we learned about the Buffalo who uses to roam free in the west and about the vultures who ate from the dead animals left behind. They were grossed out by this.
We finished reading Animal Adventurs in reading. They had one journal response and made a cause and effect booklet when we were done with the book. We did start our next book, The Bears on Hemlock Mountain.
Follow My Leader is still our read aloud book an the girls LOVE it! It is a good story! Our skill focus is point of view where they wrote a letter in a characters point if view. Our character trait is still integrity.
In spelling we worked on oi and oy words by sorting and learning where we hear te sound determines which letters we use.
Our writing was another personal narrative about in they could choose what we did in family day. They were really cute! Our language focus was using has and have correctly. I also had the girls write thank you notes for their birth day gifts.
We are working on learning our twos in math and the girls are getting it easily. They worked ahead several lessons this week.
We also had Co op this week and piano lessons. Outside PE was limited due to weather but they spent time swimming and playing in the water last weekend. We also did an art lesson in our I can Do all Things books as well as compute/ I pad time.
