Here is just a fun shot of my little munchkin girl ;) Her favorite spot, other than my lap for school, is under the table!
We only worked 3 days this week :) Emersyn has a check up on day and Ian has to go back to Ortho doc on Friday which is an hour alway. We decided to start our break a few days early!
We did do some history in that we made a timeline of the events if Jesus' birth! All three kids worked on this lesson! We read the bible story and numbered the events, then colored and cut them out. We did draw two events not listed as we had some blank boxes. This activity and all if the bible pages were from bible printables.com.
In math the girls worked on xtramath online to work on speed of facts, playing math bingo, and working subtraction facts in their fun maze/grid book.
In reading the girls finished their mysteries in DITHOR. We finished our storybook last week so for now we are reading Christmas books for story time. I did not want to stop in the middle of a genre so we ditched the workbooks this week and just read! After the girls finished reading they each picked a book project to showcase their book. DITHOR recommended a diorama and we would have loved to do it but with so much already to do I let each of the girls pick a project from what I have. Audrey chose to make a film strip about her book and Ally chose to make a chain of events.
In writing we researched reindeer, also some science :), and wrote about our findings! I used the website A to Z kids and had the girls read and watch the videos and then pick 3 facts to write. I found all of our reindeer activities for free on teachers pay teachers.
They also made a pet reindeer and had to do a little writing about him or her. Meet Snow and Jingle!
They wrote about seeing one of Santa's reindeer! These were too cute!
Their last fun writing project was to design Santa a new suit!! All of their peas his week in writing came from teachers pay teachers and were free!
In addition to these fun things the kids wrote out their own Christmas cards for family, their teachers, and friends. Ian wrote his name and helped put names on a few as well.
We did do some language :) Again this was based on our reindeer theme.
We also talked about Bethelem and how it was different than our town and did some fun sheets!
We had to decide what we would take on our donkey to Bethelem! Ian of course could leave nothing out but the girls were good to bring the essentials!
Ian had fun doing his usual morning routine! He did great on reviewing his letters A-O this week!
We also did some fun things! He had to disguise a gingerbread man!
One thing he enjoyed and did well on was matching sounds! He had to put each picture in the correct present!
He also had to tell me the letter in some snowmen and then got to cut, color, and glue them! He loves those things!
We also did music this week and sang Chriatmas songs!! The girls had piano practice everyday as they are playing in church for the first time on Sunday ;) I cannot wait! I know they will so great!
Next week we will enjoy family time and make cookies, gingerbread houses, a birthday cake for Jesus, and Christmas dinner, and celebrating the birth of a baby who changed the world!
I hope each of you have a very Merry Christmas and blessed New Year! I cannot wait to see what 2015 brings and to see my kids grow and learn even more!
