We learned about two important American cities this week and a little about Benjamen Franklin and Peter Faneuil. We used maps to find each city and places near them for geography Here is the girls art, a drawing of Faneuil Hall in Boston.
In science we learned about lightning and the parts of an insect. We made play dough grasshoppers!
In math we are working on adding with regrouping on big numbers and the girls are doing well. I started using xtramath.org to practice facts for speed and accuracy. The girls did this for computer time as well as extra math.
In bible we learned to be a cheerful giver and to use the gifts that God gives us I help others like Benjamen Frankin and Abel did. They are doing well on their verses.
We are still reading Pagoo as our non fiction book so we used that to do some writing about hermit crabs. The girls do well listening and finding facts.
I also worked on contractions this week for language.
In spelling we worked on ea words and doubled up on our phonics lessons to get a but ahead before the new baby comes. Explode the Code books are only 12 lessons long.
We also had piano lessons, independent reading from the HOD guide as well as a book of their choice, and a reading journal entry for comprehension practice.
It was an easy week as I left off a few extras we do but still full of learning and fun!
