Unit 23

This week we covered unit 23 about life before the Revolutionary War. We thought we may but finish because the baby had some plans of her own but thankfully she is still cooking away! Here are some highlights if our week.

This is one of the videos we do for inside PE. The kids enjoy it and it is only about 20 minutes. We had ice and cold temperatures this week.

As usual the girls practice piano 15 minutes a day and 30 on lesson day. Both girls are almost finished with their first book!

After reading their nature book in the ER set, the girls had to draw a beaver and it's home. They are not artists but they try!

Writing journals were free writing this week and both girls wrote about their new baby sister who is due anytime!

In math we worked on subtraction with regrouping and I think they almost have it! Xtramath is helping with their basic facts. They know the process of regrouping but still sometimes forget

In art they drew a picture based on a history reading. I thought they did very well.

Both girls finished their respective chapter books for independent reading and chose their own comprehension project. They love making their own word search for me to solve!

Ian and I did some school this week and he was so cute while working! He is doing great on writing his name by himself!

In science we did two projects or experiments. From our history lessons we learned about surveying the land so we made our own measuring chain and measures our school room. They thought that was fun.
We also made an herb garden as read about in one if our daily history readings. The girls hung them up in their rooms.

This week we also worked on our verse Proverbs 15:1 and had a bible lesson on Abram and Lot.

We finishes our storytime book so we did not start a new one this week though I am having the girls read a non fiction book for independent time.

In history we touched on how life was before the Revolutionary War as well as why it started. We met George Washington who we will study more later.

In spelling we did words that end in any sounding like an e. The girls did well and passes their tests. We spent a lot of time chunking our words which seemed to really help Audrey.

I am hoping to get through next week, unit 24 quickly as bible and spelling are review and we do not have a read aloud going! We shall see what God has in His plans for us.
