Monday
Out first day back was long but fun!! I got up early and did my exercise and the. For turbofan up for theirs :) We are breakfast and started school with healhty bodies!!
Ian did okay after the week off. It took him a bit to get back into routine. We are reading about the real Easter story and the letter x. We also finished his color book!! I also let him join the girls for art.
The girls did a review in math and their reding while I works with Ian. Regrouping with subtraction is still a struggle for Ally! We will get there! I am hoping xtramath fact practice will help.
We leaned our verse for the week Proverbs 2:10-11 and discussed carefulness. We are working on being careful in our work and in all we do! We also listened to our hymn afterward.
We read our new poem, talked about it, found the verse and lines, new vocabulary, and the rhyme pattern. It was about wind which ties in nicely with our history this week!
We read more about the Wright brother and their interest in flight and how they carefully researched it before trying it out!
They made a test glider, more like a kite and it worked! Then they were careful to pick a spot to test their glider. They knew it must have wind so they chose Kitty Hawk, North Carilona! We found it on a map and talked about how it was a good choice! We made a kite for art and also used a ball and hair dryer all to demonstrate flight and the need for wind!! We did two days of history :)
I read our storytime book while they worked! We then did some dictation and language. We are almost done with RS 2!!
In writing we are using the book Chicken Sunday by Patricia Polacco since it is about eggs and this week is Easter. We reviewed story elements today.
We ended the day with outside play!!
Tuesday
Co op is back and running!! Ally had dance class, Ian had baseball practice, and Audery had softball practice!! Thanks goodness for my crockpots!
Wednesday
Ian had fun working in my bed while I did some elliptical :) I would call out letters and numbers for him to write! We worked on the letter x, read more of the Easter story, and did some fun pages.
The girls worked on day 3 of unit 30. While I worked with Ian they did their reading.
In math we are still doing xtramath but are now reviewing money skills also.
We wrote some work in cursive as we practiced more on putting names in alphabetical order and our dictation!
For science we read and discussed the importance of yeast. I did not have any to do the experiment so we just talked about it.
They decided to go back next year with a new design, however that design did not work and they left Kitty Hawk discouraged and ready to give up. We did vocabulary for our activity.
We read our bible devotional and discussed how we feel when others do not know how we feel but that God does. We then sang our hymn.
In writing we used the book Chicken Sunday to analyze characters with this fun page.
We finished the day with some fun PE and piano lessons followed by AWANA in the evening.
Thursday
Today was a shirt but productive day! Ian had an eye appointment right before lunch. He managed to get all of his work done! Letters, bible, numbers, writing, and art!
The girls did day 4 of the unIt after a ma review on money and their reading!
In history we read about the right brothers renewed hope in flying as Wilbur was asked to give a speech about their work!! The brothers then worked on air pressure on their own handmade air table until they figured out their glider needed a rudder! We also did some fun learning with air pressure!
We then discussed our verse and dang our hymn!
In science we read about a pioneer Christmas and all of try traditions the immigrants brought that now give us an American style Christmas! The girls loved me videoing their narrations!
I read a chapter of our storybook and we discussed integrity. We followed that with dictation and language.
Friday
Ian had fun finishing up the Easter story in bible this week and boy was he excited because he already knew it! We worked on sight words an his letters and numbers along with music and PE.
While Ian and I worked the girls did their PE, piano, xtramath, and journals.
They also did their reading and we discussed and did a few questions in their workbook. Then I read some of our realistic fiction story and they did some narrating on video again. They LOVE it and do so much better!
We read our bible lesson and the girls read and fund the answers on their own through reading!
We finished our history for the week by adding more to our timeline about the Wright Brothers.
It is hard to believe we only have 4 more units left in our guides this year!!
