The end is near, unit 33

We only have one week left this year is Beyond! How is that possible? The year has flown by and my babies are almost second graders and my little man a preschooler :( We have unit 24 and a week long animal study until we are out for summer! We did this unit in 3 days and hope to do the same with unit 24 so we can start our unit study sooner and maybe be done with first grade a few days earlier than expected.

Here is a look in pictures at our week!

We are looking at comparing and contrasting and our character trait is virtue. I am not liking this so much because it takes a lot of explaining but the girls want me to keep reading!

Our writing front the point if view of a horse who got out of his open gate.

After oy poem and copywork the girls wrote their own seasons poem using the same format.

We made snowflakes in art because in one of the history lessons, Hilda, spent her first winter in the sod house on the Great Plains.

In science we covered soil and the parts if a seed.

We are finishing up 2a in math and have only a few more lessons and two reviews!

The girls have a few more weeks of piano until they are  for summer. They will take off until August.

The weather was nice so outside time was done a lot this week. I need to restock my sidewalk chalk supply can do some work outside :)

The girls are now reading the Courage of Sarah Nobel and liking it though we so have to discuss some parts so they comprehend better. We are still deciding what project to do when we finish next next week.

In history we met Hilda and her family who moved to the Great Plains from Noraway because of the Homestead  Act. Hilda did not have a cheerful heart but eventually found one ;)

Next week we move on to the transcontinental railroad and finish up our first year with Beyond!
