Ian can now recognize by name and sound letters a-j as well as name in order the days of the week and the months of the year! I am so proud of my baby boy!!
In the mornings I have set up a work board for the girls. While they work on their own I work with Ian. It has been working out well. This way they can see what they have to get done rather than me telling them and laying it out for them.
In bible we discusses dependability and the girls are working hard on it. I depended on them to clean their rooms for company and to practice their own AWANA verses and to my delight they did it!! We read how Paul taught Timothy to only be dependent on God and not others. We used this story as the basis for our art project.
The French and Indian War was our history focus for the week and we did a lot of discussing and reading. Here is our history notebook page which is a map of the areas and Braddocks March a well as a picture of the girls timeline in which we added Anthony Benezet. He was very dependable to the people who left Arcadia and fled to Philadelphia during the war.
We also worked on our poem and our hymn his week.
In math we finished up our study on time with learning about elapsed time and the girls did great! We finished the week with review 5 and both girls scored and A.
Science was spent reading about John Audoboun. We learned about owls and how they fascinated him. We also leaned about how snakes get their prey by using their tongue. In one reading John have a little girl a stuffed snake as a gift and freaked her out!
We are working in pronouns in language and are still working in Rod and Staff 2.
In writing we used the book Tops and Bottoms as our springboard. We talked about cause and effect. The girls had to write a sequel about what happens to one of the main characters after the story ends. They did very well.
On Friday, Halloween, we took the day off from HOD and had some Halloween fun.
Of course Halloween would not be complete without getting a pumpkin and dressing up!
We had such a great week! We had crazy hair night at AWANA, Paul's birthday, Halloween, and now my birthday! I thankful for a less eventful week next week.
