Monday
Ian is learning about life after Jesus went back to heaven. We love reinacting the stories! The letter Z is our focus and he has the sound so we are working on writing them! We have been reading sight words and today I had him write a sentence using them but not looking at them! I just called out the words we have been reading and I could not be prouder!!
The girls did day 1 and 2 of unit 33. Our verse is Proverbs 14:6 and our trait is being a visionary. We wrote our verse in cursive. We talked about all the visionaries we have studied so far this year. Our poem went well with this as we read it, found the new words, the rhymes, and discussed it.
Our new hymn was America the Beautiful which my girls already know and love!!
In math we are reviewing fractions which my girls rock at!!
We started the folktale genre this week the will fit in well with our Disney study in a few weeks! We are reading More Stories in Grandmas Atic! We greatly enjoyed the first one!
In language we worked on good descriptive sentences and also did dictation.
In science we read about Tom's issue in school with asking too any questions. his mom told him that we learn best by asking questions. She then homeschooled him! We filled out our science notebook page with questions we have about the world God made.
In history we read about the changes that happens in the first 100 years of our country! It was celebrated with an exposition or a big party! We found and discussed inventions in our home and how they are important.
We also read about the visionary Cal Rodgers who never gave up flying across the U.S.! He was the first man to do so even though he overcame many obstacles. We then had fun identifying states that he flew across. Ally has been playing the app Stack the States and did awesome!
The girls are leaning to write directions in writing. We made enchiladas for dinner and they had to read and follow the recipe
to demonstrate how important written directions are!
We did piano and PE after lunch to finish our school day.
It was a fun and busy day ending in a baseball game for Ian!
Tuesday
Co op, dance class, a baseball game for Ian, and Audrey's first softball game!! That was about all we could manage for the day!
Wednesday
Happy 5th Birthday Ian!! He got to pick what he did for school today!! He totally shocked me when he said that now he can count to 100 because he is 5. We have only practiced up to 25 but that little stinker did it!
The girls worked on day 3. They did aarh review and their reading while Ian worked with me. They also did copy work for cursive.
We read about the building of the Panama Canal and it's importance. We added to our vocabulary. We added it to our timeline and to our map of the routes to California. We added a page about the Panama Canal to our notebook.
We did some antonyms in language, dictation, writing directions, bible, and music!
Our day concluded with piano lessons, two doctors appointments and church.
