We are back at it after a fun and much deserved week off!! The girls finished their HOD Preparing guide this week, Audrey started ball games, out regular schedule was in full force, and Daddy was home one day sick!
Monday:
Ian is done in his HOD guide so we will spend the rest of our school year on the 3 R's as well as lol at Arkansas history and some Magic school Bus science! He had a great day back at reading today after the break. I was really proud of him!!
The girls are on the last unit of their guide this week. We are learning about life after WWII and the Olympics as well as more about Einstein. We got in three language lessons today and are taking a break from big writing this week. The girls are halfway through book 6 in math!!
Tuesday:
Today was back to our busy day..co op, piano lessons, and ball practice for two kiddos. All the kids were happy and excited to see their co op friends after our two week break!
Wednesday:
Ian was so excited to take his math quiz and score a 100%! His favorite part of the day was making a model of the solar system using balls!! It was eye opening for him to see the size difference. He also read a story with very little help from me! We did our book walk and the vocabulary/fluency sheet and he was set!
My girls worked hard today! They did some reading and are almost done with our nonfiction genere. We will start our project soon. They worked on their brochure in history and also did some vocabulary work after we read about Lenin and Stalin ruling over communist Russia. We also finished the book Twenty and Ten and oh my was it a page turner!! They worked on negative numbers in math and we also did some langauage, dictation, and science.
Thursday:
Ian is really enjoying his solar system study. Today he drew the planets in order and wrote them. He is still doing well in math and enjoyed reading a story in his reader to Daddy who was home sick. He is also interested in the Liberty's Kids show that he has been watching for history.
The girls both did excellent on their math quiz today!! They leaned about the Koren War and Vietnam in history and we did some map work with it. They both finished reading their non fiction books over different countries and leaned more about Albert Einsten in science.
Friday:
Ian enjoyed playing a planets game that I found online. He reread some stories in his AAR reader and also started a new journal!
After completing Day 4 of unit 35 the girls are officially done with Preparing Hearts for His Glory guide! They enjoyed the science experiment and both did great written narrations. We did some math and they took a book quiz for reading and worked on AWANA verses. After school and lunch we did our weekly PTT.
Next week the girls will start some enrichment lesson in geography and science and then continue he 3R's to finish our our school year similar to what Ian did this week. I will combine them on more of the hands on and project based lessons as well as read aloud time. I have also pulled out a lot of our logic and critical thinking games to use as well.
Softball games have started and soon baseball games will begin so we are going to enjoy some light days since our evenings will be jammed packed! Learning is always going on in our home so I am not worried about losing skills. Even in the summer when we are "off" from school the kids still have to read everyday and do math a few times a week, mostly just xtramath, and write at least once, even if it's just a poem or creating a movie poster about a book!
