Oceans Day 9: Coral Reefs

Coral Reefs!! Yay, the kids were so excited to learn about Nemo's home! We read two books a fiction and a nonfiction book on coral reefs and instead of adding to their lapbook a the kids did big paintings of a coral reef and had to include at least three sea animals that live in one and write two facts they learned. It was fun!  During Ian's nap today we watched a movie about The Great Barrier Reef. I love watching them make connections! Here are the girls paintings. Audrey's is first and then Ally's.

Ian and I worked on shapes with the book Color Zoo so he painted and played with his shapes. He also worked on his s sound for speech! Here is his shape painting!

For the girls independent time they wrote in their journals about our weekend of fun, read a book, we did a shares writing about our trip to the zoo, and they both worked on subtraction! You can tell we have been off of it for a while but the practice is good for them.

Tis week we will look and learn about sharks and sea turtles and then finish up our unit next week with a report and a fun project and activity.
