Welcome to Audrey and Ally's Adventures in Homeschool!! Audrey and Ally are twin sisters who are five years old and started school for the first time back in August. Thier mom, Lisa a former elementary teacher has been logging and writing each day about their school days but has now started to blog because the file was getting so big! She tries to write just a little each day about what they did, what they liked, did well on, did not no well on, and so on. This picture is from their first day of school! Even though they are halfway finished with K1, it is still hard for mommy to imagine that they are even old enough for school!
Today they girls worked more on addition and time for math. Telling time to the hour is the focus for the week. Both girls are doing well with both concepts. We have been working on addition for a while :) We will work on these skills the rest of the week.
In science we learned about snow and ice and what causes them. You can now both say that water freezes at 32 degrees and tell me the process for snow! Way to go!
We copied our Proverb for the week: Proverbs 11:5 and I read you the bible story about Abram and the promise God made to him. You thought it was neat that God promised an old man a new little baby one day! Tomorrow we will learn more about the story and add it to our timeline.
We worked on ea words with a short sound and for Audrey this is a little tricky. She is still struggling with the concept that words have to sound right AND look right! We will get there. Both girls did great at sounding out our words.
The stories you wrote about going owling based on the book Owl Moon, by Jane Yolen, were WONDERFUL!! There were no mistakes, other than a few spelling issues but those things take lots of time and practice and we have plenty of that in store for the rest of the year!
I am so proud that you completed another book on Raz Kids and passed the test, as well as reading during the library and finishing PE for the day! Ally is reading on a level I and Audrey is reading on a level G, both are above grade level ;)
